Ever had one of those days where you wonder, “Am I even growing at all?” You pray, read your Bible here and there, maybe even go to church—but something still feels… stuck. You’re not alone. Spiritual growth isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about consistently walking with God, one step at a time.
The good news? You can grow spiritually every day. Not in a forced or fake way—but in a real, steady, Spirit-led kind of way.
Growth Starts with Relationship
Think of it like a plant. You don’t yank a plant upward to make it grow faster, right? You water it, give it sunlight, and over time—it grows. The same goes for your relationship with God.
Jesus said,
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.”
—John 15:5
Spiritual growth comes from staying connected to Jesus. He’s the source. And the more you remain in Him—through prayer, the Word, and daily surrender—the more His life flows through you.
So How Do You Grow Daily?
Here are some simple but powerful ways to grow spiritually every day—even on busy or messy days:
1. Start Your Day with God
Before you scroll, text, or work—pause. Even if it’s just 5 minutes. Thank God for the day. Ask Him to guide you. Read a verse or listen to a worship song. You’re not checking a box. You’re opening your heart.
2. Read the Word Like It’s for You
The Bible isn’t just a history book. It’s alive. When you read, ask:
“God, what are You saying to me today?”
Let verses feed your spirit, not just your brain.
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.”
—1 Peter 2:2
You grow when you feed on His Word regularly.
3. Talk to the Holy Spirit Often
You don’t need fancy words. Just be real. Ask Him for help with decisions, emotions, or even chores. He’s your daily Companion, not a once-a-week visitor.
4. Obey Promptly
When God nudges you to forgive, encourage someone, or let something go—obey. Growth happens in the moment-by-moment “yeses.”
5. Reflect and Journal
Take a moment before bed to ask:
“Where did I see God today?” or “What’s He teaching me right now?”
Writing it down helps you recognize His voice and celebrate progress—even if it’s small.
It’s Okay to Grow Slowly
Growth isn’t always obvious. Some days you’ll feel like you’re soaring. Other days, you’ll feel stuck. But don’t give up. Even when you don’t feel anything, God is still at work in you.
“...He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
—Philippians 1:6
You’re not in this alone. God is committed to your growth. He’s not rushing you—but He is inviting you to grow with Him, daily.
Your Turn: Take One Step
Ask yourself: What’s one small step I can take today to grow closer to God?
Maybe it’s reading a psalm. Maybe it’s turning on worship music while you work. Maybe it’s forgiving someone. Whatever it is, do it with Him—and watch your spirit grow.
You don’t need to have it all together. You just need to stay connected to the One who does.
